I was at garage Mao's for my second tire swap this summer. Once again, great service
. He did mount my rear tire backwards , but fixed it immediately. Garage Mao FTW, even open on Sundays.

I usually go by arrows and use the disc brake as a guide but the cruiser threw me a curve ball with no arrows and drum brakes. Either way, my bad. I should have used the cush drive as my guide. |

The threads were oriented the same direction with the rear mounted backwards. It threw me off too until I saw the directional arrow. I don't think it matters though unless you get caught in the rain.

Yeah I'm planning on getting the Kat all done up by next month and I need the rear tire checked... it's leaking bad not sure if it's just the valve stem or not. But regardless I think I'm going to replace the tire anyway.

Works for me! I don't know sh!t about tires so as long as they are stickier than what's on there now and they're safe, I don't really have much for an opinion.
Any other criteria I should look for with tires on her bike? |

Check out the Pirelli MT75.
They should be available in the size you need and cost about $110-120 for a set. I don't know if you could go up to a 130/90-16 rear and a 100/90-16 front, but if you can there would be a lot more choices. It's a popular size for the Ninja 250's. If you can check out the Bridgestone BT45. Great dual compound tire, but probably twice the cost of the Pirelli's. This message was edited 1 time. Last update was at 01/26/2009 03:17:20 PM |

I read somewhere that the rear tire really has a problem with getting much bigger than stock size, maybe up to a 130/80, because of swing arm interference.
I'll look around again and see what sizes they say will fit, but I'll definitely look into the Pirellis. |
