I agree with what you say but there's a point where I gotta take off the KMFDM "Rip the System" shirt and say, "fuck rebellion, I want to drive a nice car, afford nice toys and vacation in Europe." That's the side of me that wins out and despite my not liking it, I do enjoy the things that fitting in affords me, whether it be societal acceptance, drunk club sluts or a nice wristwatch. Society makes the rules, you really can't change them, may as well play the game and have as good of a time as possible as you sell your soul down the river. haha yea, its gonna take a revolution. and i aint got that much time on this rotating ball of shit.
im more than likely going to start dressing nicer. not to get into clubs, fuck clubs i think im permanently done with those i never have a good time when im there regardless of the company. but yea, gotta impress the ladies.
even now though i am starting to question if the marriage and family route is the one i want to go. sure being alone sucks. but when you are your own man, have more money to afford toys, travel, and you're really free and unshackled from any commitment, tis a nice thing. I don't smoke, but I feel that a non smoker could avoid smokers if they wanted to, and vice versa. People have become very intolerant of others today. Everyone has to have things their way, no one wants to compromise at all . That has to change.

while the world is still tight in its ways with some things. i think overall we've noticed a shift. look at the way women used to dress and the way they dress now. old customs are out and new customs are in. as the old folk and baby boomers begin to die off and retire from control, the new generations take over and instill their values. and some of those values are still from prior generations (religion is the biggest example of this, first things first when youre born, off to the baptism bowl) but a lot of other values are thrown out the door. look at our music, look at whats said in rap these days. its comforting to see it changing, but also i wish it could change faster.
ah well. edit: im not comforted in seeing whats said in rap or how people these days idolize reality tv. someones always getting voted off something, someones always fighting someone else for a crack at some pussy, and everyone wants their respect. i like the aspect of freedom that can be seen under all the bullshit, but theres still a lot of conforming and people being brought up not to question anything in life anymore. respect authority, believe this believe that. no one ever asks why? anymore. If you keep telling a caged animal that he is free, he will eventually believe that he is free.
I'm with you Burnt. 100%. I've traveled to other countries. I've been to Europe and Asia and will tell you that we aren't as "free" as we Americans would think we are. But you also have to have visited other countries, even live in other countries to truly appreciate what we have here in America. Without a doubt, we have the highest standard of living out of any other country out there. Without a doubt. But like you said, the caveat to our high standard of living is that we are judged on how we dress, what we drive, the size of our house, etc. This message was edited 1 time. as long as there is a 2 party system in this country/government. nothing is ever going to change.
are you red or are you blue? do you believe all this shit or do you believe all that shit? you're not allowed to take a piece of everything. either you love guns, and religion or you love gays and are a hippy. do you have the millions it takes to run for president? the system is broken, its been broken for centuries and our "democracy" needs a complete revamp. its always an election between a douchebag and a turd sandwich. it doesn't matter who you vote for. We're not allowed to defend our own borders because as a general rule, Americans are all idiots. We'll have a group of stupid rednecks shooting any brown person they see and exclaiming "It's coming right for us!!". That's not good for anyone, including America. Our rights are being infringed upon but they're done with the thought that it's done for the greater good of all Americans. Gun control to help those without guns, no smoking laws to help non smokers, no Gay marriage to help... well, no one, that law is just stupid. My point is that they're sugarcoating their removal of our rights by saying it helps us as a country, but in some cases it does. |

Thou talks of freedom but thou doesn't talk about responsibility. How nice was it last Friday to go to my friend's bar and come out not smelling like a chimney? I am tired of suffering because some of you want to use FREEDOM as a crutch to have it your way.
Freedom also means responsibility. Freedom also means that your freedom doesn't infringe on my freedom. But I digress. And don't even bother responding to me or I'll ban your ass! I kid. I kid.

Less and less privelages, more laws, taxes, and fees, while our jobs constantly get outsourced to other countries. The goverment doesn't even care about its troops it sends to fight its wars, they can't even spend 3 billion a year to take care of veterans that have been hurt and faught in Iraq, but can spend 2 billion a week to keep them there. The majority of us are getting the shaft. They have already limited my mileage and energy needs by sheer cost of these products today. I don't even want to do a track day with a 12 mile/gallon Sierra unless I am sharing the gas with another rider. I can't feel optimistic about the people actually changing this when they are watching shows like TMZ and American Idol in record numbers, and ripping a person for not wearing a flag pen . So as I said, I am trying to survive, when everyone else is truely ready for change, I will be right there with them

So as I said, I am trying to survive, when everyone else is truely ready for change, I will be right there with them ![]() i think the problem is outsourcing and the job market in general is,... america isnt that much of a labor country like it used to be. fuck, we import everything made from china, japan, taiwan. America is a country of service, thats what we offer... we offer services and consulting alike. And those jobs can easily be outsourced. The rich get richer and the poor get poorer. You have to find a niche in this country, you have to provide something that people want and need and will come to you to get. People need tire changes, mao provides that. You aren't sending your tires out to a 3rd world country and having them shipped back. But phones can be answered by any asshole that can speak the language (even if for a little bit) Nobody wants the shit jobs anymore. We are a generation that was raised that if we go to school we can be whatever we want, start jobs making 45k a year and have our own little piece of the american dream. No one wants to start out at mcdonalds, everyone thinks flipping burgers is above them, that this is america and i can be something better. and thats just not how it is these days. You can use the slippery slope argument all you want but realize this. We enjoy more rights and more freedoms now more than ever. My forefather's wished they had as much freedom and rights as we all take for granted everyday.
But then again, no one wants to hear that. Just like spoiled children who don't get everything their way, we need to make a scene and polarize the issues.
