I have nothing against Suzuki. My first engine went 45k miles before it blew up, and only required one valve adjustment in that time frame . The second was a chain breaking issue, so that had nothing to do with the engine failing on the bike .

I ride to work the next morning, without warning I exit Lake Shore, roll about a mile on I55, I heard a slight wizzing noise and she just shut off for the last time . No smoke or wheel lock, I actually thought I had an electrical problem. Until I took it home and found a slight hole in the bottom of the engine case with a little coolant coming out of it. Then they took it apart at CC and found this inside .

You abse that engine J.James I did a few garbage wheelies in my day, other than that, I never rode it over 10k. Ask other folks around here, I was always one of the slowest on every ride .

The experience showed me I don't really have an unlimited mileage warranty . Regardless of whatever the issue was, CC was not going to fix it on their dime. Told me they would install another for 2k. This is when I decided that used vehicles, engines and a manual is the way to go

Yes connecting rod and big(lower) end bearing. Most likely though its the big end bearing that gave in.

Yeah probably a con rod bearing that went bad and then broke the con rod and poked a hole through the case. Usually though they give a warning with some nasty rattling before they actually break.
Dave that sucks. Hope it all works out for you man. |

Dave,
you have had the bike less than a week and had 2 problems already, I would take that fucker back and get something else, or a different bike that one seems to have bad karma. |

I ran it for a little bit tonight, no leaks. It is still going in for the check engine light. I feel a little better about Triumph warranty vs an aftermarket warranty. They replaced the bike for the cat that owned this one because they could not get an engine fast enough for him.

The 996 was an awesome ride, but it was a rack, and I could not stand looking at it anymore. I waited all spring and most of summer getting my plastics back from paint. It pissed me off looking at it. I did some research and triumph is known for "burping" coolant. It did it once with my daytona 955i. I'm almost positive the MIL is due to the exhaust. The 675 is highly rated, I know it's an awesome bike. I'll wait and see what happens.
