Flawed logic. Rambo wasn't trying to create something but merely allowing his true self to surface. I can imagine the scientist/doctor who finds the cure for cancer/AIDS would not only be rich beyond his wildest dreams but be forever remembered/honored by the world. If that isn't incentive, I don't know what is.
