I tried to bump start it again a little later. No luck, I wasn't about to lose another 5 lbs so I got a jump and it started up. Rode it 20 miles and left it running at home so I could do some tests. Got the volt meter out and it tested at 14.85v running. Turned it off and the battery went down to 12.83. Now, when I tried to start it again it started right up. I kept turning it on, turning it off and testing, and it seems to be working fine now. I don't want to get stranded again so I will let it sit in the garage and test the battery in a day or 2 and see what reading I get. The positive terminal was loose earlier and I tightened it, maybe that was the issue but I don't know for sure. I would be shocked if this battery went bad this fast because it is a Yusa and it is less than 2 years old. I always put it on a battery tender Jr when the bike wasn't ridden for more than a few days.

I was wondering what happened Ron. Hopefully it was just the loose battery connection. When Kim's starter control pod was going out it would work intermittently until it totally stopped activating the starter at all. Bump starting it shouldn't be that difficult. Turn on ignition, run with it in neutral, hop on, put it in 2nd, bounce on the pegs as you let the clutch out.

Stupid bike, I go to the garage this morning and it fires right up like nothing happened at all yesterday. It must be upset with me
. If this thing starts to act like my Bonneville I will need to get rid of it. The Bonneville loved leaving me stranded in the middle of nowhere . It would work perfectly around the house, but the second I went 50 miles away it would decide to shut off on the highway .

Suh-C wrote:did you check your cables? Yeah, I tightened them yesterday when I first found out the positive lead was loose. I think that was the problem. Since I only rode the bike for a few minutes after bump starting it then I don't think the stator had enough time to charge the battery back up again. That is why I had to jump it hours later. Since that 45 minute ride back to my house it has started just fine on the first try. I have test started it and shut it off about 15 times from yesterday till this morning. This morning I test fired it twice without issues. |

I double clutched it with someone pushing me in the lot and still couldn't get it to fire. As for the engine, I seriously thought that at first, I was sitting there saying "Shit, here we go again, Mr. October FTMFL" . Thankfully I haven't blown it yet, there are still 9 days left .

If I found a loose battery cable after trying to push start it, I would tell you to just run faster.
