Ok, allow me peel off the layers of assumptions and contridictions and try get to the core of the issue.


But, just when I thought I was there, I realized that I am actually peeling an onion. When you state that this is censorship, you are assuming that censorship is the user's intent. You are ignoring all other reasons for wanting to delete a thread.

ok, most of my threads are created for fun, but at the same time, it's regarding my LIFE = RELATIONSHIP, so i'd rather not have the possibility of someone stumbling across it only to get it back to the gf. Also, if i didn't create threads, ths board would be super boring, no?

GreatJ and others, the people's forum is not concern about the who/when/what/why you want to delete your thread. We are not arguing CAUSE but EFFECT. What caused you to want to delete your thread is your prerogative and isn't what should be debated. The effect of your thread deletion deprives others of their freedom to respond to whatever your thread is about.

Furthermore, self censorship shouldn't begin after a thread is posted. It should begin BEFORE the thread is posted. That is our goal anyway. Once you open the doors for people to enter your thread, it is the people's right to comment, joke or a good old fashion beat down. Remember once you lose your virginity, that's it. You can't all of a sudden turn back time. Once your thread has penetrated the minds of other users, that's it. Even if you delete the thread, there is no going back.

Now, what I would like to hear is reasons by allowing users to delete thread would be more beneficial than how it is now. I am sensing convenience is one of them. What are the other benefits?

If you left this one sentance out I could see your point better. But the assumption being made about why the thread is being deleted continues to seep into your argument.
