So michelle has expressed a interest in getting a classic looking bike kind of like what Mandy has. I don't know crap about those. What's good what's bad and who has one?

+1 for the bonneville. its comfortable, easy to maneuver, and pretty reliable. my friend megan has one and loves it. she just recently got back into riding and wanted something that was beginner-friendly but not boring.

stumbl1 wrote:how many cc is the bonneville and the weight? There are two versions. I'm sure google will find it for you. I learned on one of the originals in the backyard when I was 14. Street tires + grass = lots of crashes and good handling skills!!! This message was edited 1 time. Last update was at 08/27/2008 10:32:16 AM |

I would also suggest a CB, honda reliability many different CC combos and great handling. After half a season of riding I passed the DMV test on a '78 CB750. kinda big bike but it handled real well for me.

I think the Bonne is an 800-900cc bike but don't let that scare her/you off, it only puts out something like 60 horsepower and isn't crazy heavy. I'd start out on a GS500E if I wanted something classic and inexpensive but the Bonneville is nice.

I like the thruxton and the scrambler. Great looking, good reliability. They also crash well, ask Skykitten.v
If you go classic bike, I suggest Honda. If she is doing modest highway riding with it, get at least a 350 or 360t. Mandys 360t did 90 with me on it. The seats are a little tall, but can be taken care of with the vast aftermarket supporting these bikes. Please note, these are bikes that my require tinkering every once in a while. Simple stuff, like adjusting the idle. Its minor, but should be noted. Expect to pay $1500 to $2500 for a really nice CB. beaters with no title sell for about $300 to $500.
Considering the price difference between a Triumph and a Honda, I would (and did) go classic Honda all the way. If in your search you find a cb 125 of any condition, PM me. good luck , hope this helps. |

for a beginner, i would go with a bonneville over a thruxton based on the riding position. with the thruxton, she's gonna be leaning down somewhat because of the lower handlebars. unless of course, she doesn't mind.

well she's not exactly sure what she is looking for so these are good examples to help her decide.
