Never said it was hard. I'm just happy I did it. Wasn't even sure it was possible on that model.

I wasn't saying reversing it was hard or not. I was saying what's so hard about just GP shifting.

It was confusing me as the Gixxer is standard shift. Every so often I would downshift instead of upshift.

Got the front brake working. Turned out to be just a dirty and rusted up brake line. Cleaned it up with kerosene and lubed it up good. Brakes work good. All I need to do now is clean the carbs and cosmetic fixes.

Man they don't build them like this anymore. Cleaned off the carbs some and was out tearing up the streets. This thing hauls ass pretty nicely for such an old bike.

Need to tune this thing up and replace gaskets and she will ride just like new.

I really like that bike. Can't wait to ride it after you get it running good as it was downright scary without front brakes

It has front brakes now. And I was riding it all day. Full throttle and shifting in at 10K RPMs in every gear. I also fixed the shifting so it is easier to shift now. No more long shifts.

It still needs tuning, gaskets and some cosmetic fixes.

Nice job Mao. Old bikes are cool. The GS1100 is my favorite bike in the fleet right now.

Just had my first stranded moment on the 350. Was out riding and when it just died. No starter, no lights, no horn, nothing. Immediately I knew it was electrical. Checked the battery cables. OK. Next up was fuse. And there it was. The fused popped. Was able to McGyver it until I hit Vatozone for a new fuse. Never a dull moment with old rat bikes.

there's gotta be a reason that fuse blew out. make sure you don't have an intermittent short to ground or an extra load on that circuit that shouldn't be there.

Yeah, I'm trying to figure out what made the fuse pop. Anyhow, I have decided to restore the bike starting with the engine. I've already PMed Ressurection for a quote on redoing the engine. The rest I can tackle on my own.

She runs pretty good right now but I'd like to make her more reliable. Man this is going to be a money pit. Support your dealers!

Bike had issues idling so I cleaned out the jets really good this time in kerosene. It idles and rides fine but I have lost a lot of top end power. The clutch side cylinder doesn't seem to be making as much power as the right side. The exhaust pressure is much stronger from the brake side cylinder. Man I hate old bikes.

Good for you guys. I can only ride heavily breathed on liter bikes with thousands in go fast doodads and widgets now. Good clean living has spoiled me.

Going from the 350 to the Gixxer, man it was such an awkward positing to ride a sportbike. I forgot how much of a torture rack it was. I got use to it again as the power and handling made it all worth while.

Figured out why I lost so much power. I was running on 1 cylinder. For some reason I lost spark on the brake side cylinder. I should be good to go once I fix this.
