Try scheduling for that class. It'll never happen.

Daley: Gun law 'reasonable' despite lawsuits challenging it Share | Posted by John Byrne at 1:32 p.m. Mayor Richard Daley today defended Chicago's new gun restrictions as "reasonable" in the face of lawsuits challenging its legality. A federal suit filed last week seeks to have a portion of the city's gun regulation voided because it prohibits people from having handguns in garages and other areas outside the living area of a home. Daley said that legal challenge fails to take into account that garages are often far from residences in the city. "Remember, garages are separate. People are walking to or from a garage," Daley said. "A garage can be on a second lot or a third lot. Again, there's a garage in a high rise, you'll have a right to carry the gun all the way down. There's a lot of questions here." Daley spoke to reporters today for the first time since July 2, when the City Council passed his new gun ordinance in response to the U.S. Supreme Court's ruling that the city's decades-old handgun ban did not pass legal muster. Since then, he's celebrated Independence Day and attended an Idaho conference put on by an investment bank. Today, Daley said the new law – which requires Chicagoans to apply for a city gun registration card, undergo training and register each firearm they own, and sets several other parameters – does not place too heavy a burden on people. "We have to have accountability," Daley said after a news conference at the Chicago Cultural Center to publicize Gourmet Chicago, a food and wine event that will be held in Millennium Park in September. "This is about protecting the city from lawsuits," he added. "Everybody wants to sue the city, you hear that all the time. So like anything else, you have to ask for reasonable gun laws." The new ordinance, which took effect Monday, also bans gun shops within city limits. A lawsuit has been filed challenging that provision as well, but Daley said there are enough gun shops in the suburbs for Chicagoans to buy firearms. "It was something we think is necessary that we take a stand on. They want to challenge it, fine," he said. Daley said the new ordinance was not constructed to discourage people from owning handguns. "People want to have a handgun, they have a handgun," he said. But the mayor stopped short of predicting the new gun ordinance will definitely withstand the lawsuits. "We think (the ordinance is) very reasonable and very understanding," Daley said. |

Chicago's "unsafe" firearm list. What a joke.
https://portal.chicagopolice.org/portal/page/portal/ClearPath/About%20CPD/Firearm%20Registration/Unsafe-Roster-final.pdf And in case anyone wants to register their firearm. https://portal.chicagopolice.org/portal/page/portal/ClearPath/About%20CPD/Firearm%20Registration/Gun-Registration-3.pdf |

I think it would have been shorter to list the legal guns. why did they ban the walther p22. isn't that a popular model?

They banned the Sig Sauer mosquito also. Looks like they want to ban all semi-auto 22s. There is no way that list is considered "reasonable."

Wait WHAT? Are you bloody fucking kidding me???
Am reading the list now. Uhm, this still amounts to a fucking ban. The designation that a particular firearm is "unsafe" is entirely arbitrary. I noticed a bunch of individual names so threw one into Google. "Evans, James E." is tied to http://www.american-firearms.com/, which doesn't even SELL firearms! There seems to be a lot of firearm manufacturers who make replica antique firearms, such as those you find amongst the Cowboy Action Shooters. I love how they came up with the term "sheathed trigger" models. I'm appalled that reputable corps like Marlin and Remington are also listed. |

Alright, I only knew of 'em as "stud triggers."
Sheathed Trigger: Form of trigger commonly found on American revolvers of the 1860-1880 period, and occasional on European revolvers. The frame of the pistol has an extended spur or sheath; when the hammer is cocked ready to fire, the trigger is forced out so that it can be pressed. Obviously restricted to single action weapons. Also known as a ‘stud’ trigger. |

Excellent!
Sadly, I haven't been out to the range at all this year. I still need to get my gal orientated and out to the range for her first go around as well. |

A range day would be fun when the weather is a tad nicer. This humidity is killing me.

If bullets were $5,000 each to buy would there be as much shootings?

Yes. People would make their own bullets, just like when people distilled their own booze.

Worse case scenario people can use muzzle loaders. Black powder is cheap and easy to make on your own. It's basically sulfur, zinc and carbon. Getting the ratios right takes some work though. As far as bullets, people already cast their own from used lead which can be found free or dirt cheap.
