Wanted to see if anyone had a recommendation for a heavy duty hanging system. I have to hang a 40 lbs object from an interior wall. The item is 10 feet long and 8 inches out from the wall. From above it looking like this:
____________________________________ interior wall |____|____|____|____|___| 40 lbs object I have six atttachment points and six wall studs to work with. The thing is, I want the hardware hidden. Ikea has their "Lack" wall mount shelves with special hanging hardware that is hidden. I am looking for something like that. This is kind of similar to hanging a Flat Panel TV, but with smaller individual brackets. Does Home Depot, etc have anything simliar? This message was edited 4 times. I spent the whole Sunday last week looking for the same to put some clean looking wall mounted shelving underneath my wall mounted TV and couldn't find jack. I know what you're talking about with the Ikea stuff as I went there as well. You mount a bracket on to the stud that has a tube like metal deal that sticks out and then you slide the shelf on to the tube for hidden brackets. Unfortunately I could not find something similar at Home Depot, Lowes or Menards and Ikea's bracket system only works with their shelving. If you find something please post it up.
FWIW I ended up just using the rail type system where you can move the bracket up and down to the height that you choose. It's ugly as sin but gets the job done. |

What I was hoping for is some kind of bracket with tapered openings. I put a few screws in the wall with the heads sticking out. I mount a bracket on the item and then slide the item with the brackets over the screw heads and it catches in place.
