The weekend before last, I wandered into Abt, on a quest to upgrade my TV. I've had a Sony 32" WEGA Trinitron set for about 5 years now, which I bought from Abt when I first moved into my place. I figured it was time to jump on the HDTV bandwagon, so started doing some online research, and stumbled upon the Samsung DLPs... specifically the 7 Series. I was intrigued by the wealth of info I found on it via http://www.avsforum.com and knew I'd found a keeper. And she showed up on Friday...

New:

Say hello to my new Samsung 61” widescreen LED DLP® HDTV (HL61A750)!!! I only have standard Comcrap cable, but they offer the local digital channels, so I got to preview HDTV that way, and WOW, it's beautiful. I also borrowed a buddy's PS3, to test out the HDMI connectivity and see what the Bluray fuss is about... holy hell, I'm a convert!!!

All in all, I'm super pleased. Now, I did find one oddity last night, which I'd hoped to pick everyone's brains about. Like I said, I only have standard cable right now, so have my coaxial going straight into the TV... and found that with 3 or 4 channels, the sound cuts out after 3-4 seconds. I swapped out my coax cables with 2 others I had lying around, and they all had the same results. I know for certain that my previous TV didn't do this.

Any thoughts on this matter?

Heh, gave it to my mother actually... sorry.

On the other hand, the gf has a 36" Sony, same model line, that she'll be getting rid up come this summer.

Yes, best value for the size. I saw no reason to go LCD or Plasma, given the costs and various pros/cons. The only real cons to DLP, in my mind, were the fact that it's being discontinued (oh darn), and that DLPs require a bulb change after a few years... oh, except my 7 Series has an LED bulb, so that "bulb change" is now a moot point too!
