I always hear that and I have never received tires that were more than 6-8 months old from manufacturing date. Actual results will vary of course.
I have seen much much older tires on people's bikes that they ride everyday. |

I doubt you are getting 6-8 moth old tires from a warehouse that is having a sale. Once someone gets a set please post ur date code that is located on the sidewall of the tire. I am curious.

We had this conversation last year. I got a shipment of 20 tires from Parts Unlimited. I went down and checked. You have to remember almost all of these resellers do not have a warehouse. They are resellers for their supplier and the tires are often just dropped shipped from the supplier's warehouse. At least that was my experience with Parts Unlimited.
I am interested to see as well. I'm sure the tires weren't over nighted but they are still use able. |

I never had a set blow up or do anything crazy from the tires I bought from them in the past, so I trust them

Has anyone even heard of anyone crashing from a blown tire caused by aged tires? There was this kid from CLSB that was riding on a 2003 Gixxer on what I swear were OEM tires. It was dry rotted and cracked. It was so bad, I gave him a set of take-offs and gave him NASCAR service free of charge. His tires didn't blow up so I am sure tires made in the past year would be OK.
Once again, I have seen very very old tires on people's bikes. The tires CompACC sells can't be older then those tires. |

Im not saying they are going to blow up. All I am saying is they are not the newest of freshest tires around. Don't think you are get tires that are brand spankin new.

the conditions the tire is stored in will affect it alot. as far as dry rot. but it's possible for tires to blow out from age. average rider no problem but with steve I can see your concern.

I am quite sure they are not overnighted straight from the factory. The real issue is would there be a safety and handling defecits? And will the average rider (street and track) notice? I'm sure racers would want the freshest tires for peace of mind. To each his own. |

he destroys tires for sure but I'm thinking his fresh tires are the reason he can get away with that.

If tire stores work like any other business, it's all just-in-time inventory. Things don't sit for very long anymore. I imagine the reason for the sale is the bank loan is coming due and they need the turnover.
