I need a new rear tire. I had Pilot Sports which lasted about 13k, then switch to Pilot Powers. I got about 6, close to 7k with the PPs and i want something with better longevity, but with similar tire profile to PPs. Any ideas?

You don't ride enough miles per year to justify PP Roads. Tires will dry out and harden up, so you will need new tires even if you have tread left.

The most important factor in this decision is to support your local dealers, whatever you do.

Choice of tire depends on 2 things.
1) Riding stlye 2) How many miles do you put on per season You can get some sport touring tires that last 13K+ miles but if you don't rack on those miles in time, the tires dry out, get firm and traction is compromised. God damn you sportbikers really are the cheapest motherfockers on the planet.

I have whatever you decide on. When you decide which of the 5 brands and 4 compounds each then let me know and I will get you a price.

1. the first 6-8k miles on your oem pilot sport don't count so getting 13k out of those tires is misleading
2. getting 13k miles out of a rear is not something to be proud of. 3. imo, getting 6k miles on a rear is not bad. 8k is pretty good. |

Darn. I guess PPs it is.

1. I stopped worrying about gravel. I have a tendency to watch the road, even on the cage (more so on the cage cause it's lowered). 2. You're a good leader. Just don't tap the brake before entering a turn and i'll be right on your ass. Once i see red i pucker up and walk it through (thanks for that, Mao ).
3. I was finally getting the hang of kissing the mirror. I love it. |
