i want to thank bucky badger and fred duncan for hooking a brother up with a free trackday at putnam down in indiana. both were very friendly and helpful. putnam is a fun track. seems like you're always going right (only 2 left corners).
unfortunately, my day was cut short. coming into the "dead bear" corner, i thought i was in 3rd gear and downshifted. turns out i was in 2nd. once 1st gear hit i got an assload of chatter from the rear. i ran off in to the run-off area and my dumbass probably had a few fingers on the front brake. front wheel locks and i get dumped onto my left shoulder. needless to say, i broke my left collarbone. so now i'm sitting here typing this wearing a shoulder splint used to pull back the shoulder i would also like to thank josh and his wife kayla and the other ppl pitting around me with helping monster pack up while i was being carted off in an ambulance. hopefully, NESBA will do another raffle for those who missed out this time. |

That sucks dude. I've broken both my collar bones before. Kind of a pain for a few weeks, but no big deal. Make sure you keep that sling on tight as often as you can so it heals correctly.

Sorry to hear that Paiky. Welcome to the broken collar bone club.
I'll be back Wednesday to assess the damage and help give you a hand with the bike.

thanks guys and gals.
the bike is fine for the most part. i probably wasn't going over 20mph when i went down. bike just broke off the footpeg and there's some fiberglass damage. only other thing i noticed was the plastic end of the vortex clip-on tube was gone. but i have not done a full look over yet. the monster has already started on the "that's it. you're done. no more motorcycles for you. not even on of those little dirt bikes"....
fyi, demerol as a pain killer does not work for me. only thing it did was make me drowsy. morphine worked much better

Holy crap Brian, sorry to hear that-- somehow I totally missed it-- sorry I wasn't around to help out too. I was looking around for you guys later and figured you headed back early.
What session was it? I low-sided in the bus-stop in session 5, then spent an hour oblivious to the track while getting the bike back together. You didn't miss much on Sunday-- a lot of rain and a surprisingly slippery track (especially dead bear, which was taking people out once every 10 minutes, no joke). Heal up, bro. I did mine a couple years ago-- collarbones heal up well, just takes some time. |

So sorry to hear about the mishaps for djamps and Paiky - Brian I didn't even realize that was you in dead bear, glad you're (relatively) OK. I was so busy with registration on Saturday morning that I probably even talked to you not realizing it - "Hi" a little late?
Saturday was a great day weather-wise, Sunday rained most the day (too many red flags in the morning) but cleared out enough in the afternoon for us to get in a couple of dry sessions per group. That ended the Putnam weekend on a high note for me for sure . I love that track soooo much!
Brian, hope you get back out to tackle Putnam again - it was good to see you back at the track! |

thanks again guys/gals.
jim - she hasn't reached pissed state yet. sunday while i was drugged she kept telling me "no more bikes. no track, no cruiser, no dirt... nothing" now she's saying "maybe you should trade for a cruiser?"
darren - no worries bub. everyone pitted around us was helping monster load up. i remember sitting there talking to the putnam emt's, mike and jennifer, and while i was answering their questions about 6 ppl were helping monster pack up. from my understanding, monster originally left the trailer and bike there because the bike had not been taken off the track. monster had to go back to get the trailer/bike before putnam closed at 6:30. when she got there fred and nesba company hitched and loaded the trailer for her.
kim - no worries. i arrived late and was standing in registration line with a bunch of ppl. i got pulled aside by fred who registered me. |

My sister's bike for sale, Suzuki Volusia 800, nice silver cruiser 4k. I rode it and it was fun, you just have to get used to your feet being in front of you instead of underneath you.
