My God is it tough to bump start a gixxer. I ran up and down the street on the side of my bike for 40 minutes trying to start my bike today. Gave up, another biker saw me and helped push the bike, we took turns pushing the bike to bump start it. After the 10th try, yes tenth try, It putted and started. Damn, gixxers suck to push start. Minimuffs makes it look so easy on the Honda, but not so on a Gixxer, you need to be the damn bionic man running this fucker up to back to the future speeds before it starts
.

Gixxers are not for the weak. Huge compression is why they are the fastest on the road. Something like 86.5 to 1 ratio. Crazy.

I would have found some homeless people and paid them $1 each to help me push.

Clutch in second, drop it, I would hear it slightly putt and die. After like 50 tries I tried clutching it in second, hear it chug squeezed the clutch in for a second and dropped it again and it finally started.

It was like a Back to the Future movie gone wrong, I ran almost a block 20 times trying to get this thing to start. There was quite a crowd of people starting to form looking and laughing and waiting for me to dump it in the alley . It was like when G2G was talking about Chunk, "Run fatboy run" .

I always run with it in neutral because there is much less drag, and then hop on and bang second. It should start right up.

It should start right up. there is less drag than just pulling the clutch in? doesn't make sense but then again i'm thinking of it from an automotive trans perspective. should be the same idea though. wouldn't the clutch disengage the transmission entirely from the engine? or are you saying that leaving it in gear actually creates drag for the rear wheel? i think the latter is what you are talking about. interesting, i'll have to try that out next time i'm on the bike and see if it's true

In neutral you are just spinning the trans and no clutch basket. Much easier. Just try it in a parking lot, once in neutral and once in gear with clutch pulled in. You guys know phones, I know bikes.
