So i just got a 2003 limited edition black with flames r1 from an insurance auction. I am wondering if anyone here can give me more info about it. It was involved in what looks like a head on crash of some kind, its missing the headlights, upper fairing, and speedo. The bike has micron high mount exhaust and a tank protector that says "dont worry I wont go fast" I just think it would be cool to know a little of the history on this bike. Miles? thanks

Very cool the bike stayed in the area. And Josh isn't kidding that was his baby. He loved that bike. He would still have it if he could.

I am acutally from nebraska, picked it up in hammond indiana. I got the bike for $875 which was a steal! This bike is awesome, tires look newer, plastics for the most part are good, the frame sliders saved the bike. I only need gauges, headlight, upper peice, and a few odds and ends to make it good again. Its kinda hard to tell if there is any mods really. I do see obviously it has exhaust, and looks like it used to have a powercommander. Does it have gears?? What was the approx mileage when she went down, I want to get a cluster that reflects that. Again anything you could know would be great, sorry to hear that you got tore up in the accident! I guess it could have been alot worse!!! Thanks

A lot of these auctions are only for dealers but if you can get in, game on. |

Or even if I sell it as a track bike, the new owner will want to know it is not stolen. |

the auction that I am with you must be signed up with thier system as a dealer. They dont sell to illinois residents for some reason?? but you dont need a title to have a track bike, but I agree that I would want one just in case I got bothered by the law. Most of the bikes sold to the dealers through these auctions are salvage. I know this R1 has a salvage title. Im just hoping that I can get a clear rebuilt title here in nebraska

Once they are called you say goodbye . As you can see, they total them very easily, our downfall is your gain. I need to find someone with a dealer's license to get me one of these bikes.

FWIW Myers, I was joking about the power output and mileage, I wasn't the owner but it was much lower in miles than that with much higher output. You got a well cared for R1. |
