Hello!

My name is Boris, I'm from Russia, St. Petersburg.

I'm planning to visit Chicago in March, rent a motorcycle and travel along Route 66 to LA.

Do you have any suggestions about Harley Davidson motocycle rental in chicago?

I found http://www.eaglerider.com/
but it works only from 2 of April.

Thank you!

Priviot!

Pretty much all HD dealers rent them out. I'm not sure how they treat foreign driver licenses though.

Privet.

Well, I have russian automobile and motocycle license, which is suitable for Europe. Will this be of any help?

Because I know couple of my friends, ranting a car in US with russian license. I suppose the situtation with motocycles is the same.

The problem is, that most of the rentals start working from April of even from May.

Oh, thank you - I also found these guys http://www.chicagoharley.com/shop/rentals.php

By the way - is the Kawasaki Vulcan 800 experience is enough to rent a HD?

Because I ride a Vulcan 800, and haven't experience of anything heavier?

PM sunshine on the board. They rent over 1000 bikes a month for this very purpose. the majority of renter/riders are from overseas.

Bring some warm, rainproof clothing if you're doing this in March! It's usually cold and wet for much of March here.

Hi Boris!

Yes, I am a girl

I received your message. I will try to assist you any way I can...

Unfortunately Eagle Rider is only open from approximately April 1st-Oct 31, so this will not benefit your March rental.
They are located at:
Illinois Harley-Davidson
1301 S Harlem Ave
Berwyn, IL 60402
Phone: 708-749-1500 | Toll Free: 888-966-1500 | Fax: 708-749-3800

"I'm planning to visit Chicago in March, rent a motorcycle and travel along Route 66 to LA."
This is VERY common! I can't even begin to tell you how many international travelers take a taxi straight from Ohare Airport to Illinois Harley Davidson without even checking into their hotel first. I kid you not when I tell you that there are 40-60 international travelers in the parking lot and Eagle Rider's rental desk every single morning during the months of operation.

"Well, I have russian automobile and motocycle license, which is suitable for Europe. Will this be of any help?"
You are required to have a motorcycle license, so you should be fine. They will explain requirements in detail prior to your arrival.

"By the way - is the Kawasaki Vulcan 800 experience is enough to rent a HD?"
That is fine, you don't have to have experience riding a Harley in order to rent one. There are many different models and styles to choose, from 883cc-1450cc. I've had the opportunity to ride all of them and they are all amazing bikes. I take customers out on test rides and I am the Control Rider for all our demo days. I would not recommend the XL883 Sportster for the Historic Route 66 Route because it is over 2,000 miles and the 883 would not be ideal for this trip. The XL1200 wouldn't be a poor choice, but I recommend a Softail or a Dyna.

Oh, and you can leave the bike in L.A., this is one of the perks that Eagle Rider is known for

I hope this was helpful. Let me know if I can further assist you.

Sunshine
