All the TRE mods I read require a double pole double throw (DPDT) switch. These are barely available outside of Radio Shack, plus your options are somewhat limited.

The original TRE mod also told you to completely CUT the Black/White wire. This wire is used as a common for other components, so I'm not sure how disconnecting this wire will affect other systems in the electrical portion of the motorcycle. I think my new way is a little safer for the electrical system.

There are bunch of SPDT switches at AutoZone, PepBoys, and Advanced Auto which are used for lighting switches. Some are even water resistant.

this doesn't concern you Honda boy, hence the subject of the thread.

Anyway, in some zooks, the ignition timing is retarded in the first three gears.

this mod "fools" the computer into thinking its always in 5th gear (5th gear is a 6.8K ohm signal to the ecu). In doing this, you also trick the computer into not allowing it put on the top speed limiter that it has in 6th gear.

On my giggy 1K, got some extra torque and power, but barely noticable. What did help was the reduced engine braking that was absolutly ridiculous before the mod.

I used to have to blip the throttle 1/2-3/4 turn just to get the thing to match up right without too much engine braking while entering a corner.

That alone was worth it to me to do the mod.
