Just had an incident directly related to this unemployment extension......Found a great technicain.....knew what he was doing......was looking for work for the last year.....
He asked me how much, I offered him my max, $19/h. He said "sorry dude, but I get almost as much on unemployement" Couldn't believe how blunt he was. I told him to immediately leave my office. I then called the staffing company and told them how disgusted I was and to no staff him for anyt other company. |

unemployment would be a raise for me at $19/hr
in the year and a half i was unemployed, i never collected unemployment, or a food stamp. i contracted myself to my uncle and worked for his business as a blue collar lifting, moving and testing batteries all day. |

That's because you didn't qualify for your Obama prize. Had you qualified, you would have been inline to get some free money.

I hardly post anymore but that I was compelled to to sign-in. Reading/hearing about people NOT going out to seek employment simply because "they make more unemployed" disgusts me. Lazy people will ruin this country and most likely cry about how nothing was done to fix the problem in the end. |

This is what happens when you have a welfare state. People get use to the free money. As disgusted as I am, I really can't balme the guy. Why would he want to bust his ass 40 hours a week so he can make even less than sitting on his ass all day.
Blame the administration for perpetuating this behavior. |

Blame the administration for perpetuating this behavior. I do blame him. If he is receiving unemployment, he technically doesn't have any other income from work. THe guy can't see but 1 month ahead of him. If he's sitting on his ass everyday looking for work, he should be grateful that he's now doing something practical during his day and getting paid as opposed to sitting around the house collecting. The longer you stay unemployed and have a gap of employment, it doesn't look good. ON top of that, when the unemployement DOES run out, you're gonig to have THAT much more trouble finding a job because EVERYONE that was on unemployment will now be looking for work twice as hard. The thing that pisses me off is these politicians are only looking for votes. Solving the root problem is not on their radar because rectifying the root problems of a society and economy takes more than 4-8 years of an elected officials term of office. |
