This question came up while out on the job between co-workers. Everyone has their limits I guess but some people say don't talk shit about my mom while other say don't talk shit about my girl. Should there be any boundaries? Is there anything sacred if you're going to joke about everything else? Is it okay to get butthurt over certain subjects?

I think to talk about someone's kids or a deceased relative is crossing the line.

mom jokes i generally try to stay away from even with the closest friends. it's generally not worth it to throw a mama joke out there because when someone gets upset they seem to get really butthurt.

i make fun of monster all the time. jokes regarding her don't faze me as much.

Bench press jokes are also crossing the line. Not all of us can bench press more than 80 lbs.

Race jokes are also crossing it for certain races. Some people get really butt hurt over a comment that isn't even remotely racist and feel the need to hold a press conference.

don't joke about people's children or sick/deceased relatives. All else is fair game among friends. If you're not friends, don't fuck around unless you're ready for an altercation.

Jokes about the handicap or mentally challenged are also crossing the line. The same with animals. Basically anything that involves people/something that cant' defend themselves is crossing the line for most people.

And then there is Jeffey. Jeffey knows no bounds.

yeah as long as it's not mean spirited. I think among friends it's fine.

It doesn't apply to me and no I do not go about creating jokes of that nature. Very few things offend me.

you you have a reverse double standard then. you say you won't get offended but at the same time you will not create jokes of that nature. interesting.

at the same time, I have friends where you can't really joke about anything and that's fine too. It all depends on the person. For me, you even hint a joke about my kids and at the very minimum you will get hit with something and at the very worst, I might stab you and kill your family.

Just because it doesn't offend me doesn't mean it won't offend other people. Just because I drink wine doesn't mean I can give it to children. If that's a double standard, so be it.

for the purpose of this thread exclude people that you don't really joke around with. i'm talking about people that you joke around with on a regular basis.

what's funny is you throw out some of the most offensive (and funny) jokes out on the forum to people you don't even know yet you hold your children out of bounds. if you say it's just the internet then wouldn't the same apply for someone you've never met to make fun of your kids?

not attacking you here like i usually do for giggles, mao. just thought it was interesting that you hold a double standard to your disadvantage in a way. if i made fun of your mom constantly you wouldn't make fun of mine even though you know i wouldn't get offended?
