Speaking of standard mark up I always thought the mark up on home and car audio equipment was pretty amazing. It's remained uneffected at 200% for the last 20 years or so.

No clue really, other than intense pressure from value of the dollar and a long line of middle men taking a piece. I really don't know though.

Same shit happened in the auto repair industry too. It used to be you couldn't walk into an auto parts store and get parts for anywhere near the discount shops got. Then along came the whores like Trak Auto, selling parts to consumers at jobber prices.
