What history book are you reading from? Historically, the private sector has only looked out for themselves. Everything is about cost cutting, meeting revenue expectations and potential growths. Have we forgotten about all the recent events?
And what really irks me is that you freedom fighter who are fighting government mandates are the same people begging Uncle Sam to do something about gas prices. So mandates are OK just as long as it serves your interest.
the health/medical and insurance companies are a good example of this

No mao thats their right to go where they want, i chose to go get the better product, hence the saying in buisness, "serve the mass' live with the class' - serve the class' live with the mass'" wise words wright them down.
What you fail to see is this. Without those mandates, there would be ZERO better products. Our food supply use to be shit and I mean literally shit until government mandates and regulations were put in place. Thank you FDA. The private sector has not, can not and will not regulate themselves.

is that what they are doing with our gas?
one price rises and they all do? someone has to have a better oil stock and keep prices low.
im more interested in the mannerisms of todays society than the bans that have a bit more debateable discussion to them.
like i stated above, clothing, taking hats off or hands over hearts, and all the other bullshit nitpicks we have to judge someones character and keep them in line.

Wat! Without governmental regulation, you would not be enjoying the freedoms you have now. You like your water and food clean? It was not always that way. Read the book, The Jungle. You like all the safety features in your car? Low emissions? Well guess who mandated that?
Business will always need mandates and regulations.
those things come about from capitalism not from government.
bar 1 serves shit for water so consumer goes to bar2 who serves piss for water, then consumer learns that he can have real water then goes to bar3.
its called capitalism you commie the governments only role is to make sure we are safe and if poisoning us is deemed unsafe then they step in, hence licenced plumbers that carge $140 an hour, and its only cause we have to to make up for the rediculous charges that are put on us. And if some plumber finds a way to do it for $120 and hour, guess where the consumer will go,,,, its called capitalism.
keep the Gov. out.
Name one thing the gov sector does better than the private sector.
you're right about this, it is called capitalism. you dont like it go somewhere else. businesses should be able to pick and choose if they want smoking or not and cater to that market.

Rape is not about lust. It's about power. Try again.
What does that have to do with keeping people safe and healthy? Smoke bans were put to keep people that don't smoke, safe from cancer, and healthy, right?
Chairman, you missed this.
mao is right, people arent raped because of their clothes. look at the prison system. and women have been raped since the dawn of time, even fully dressed.
burntash wrote:why split and divide people like that anywany? then you gotta worry about finding a place that smokes or is non smoking. this way smokers and nonsmokers are free to go wherever they want but if you want to smoke walk your lazy ass a few steps out the door and light it up.
or if you dont want to smaoke you go for a walk.
you guys are missing the point,
who are we to tell someone else how to run their buisness, its the bar/resteurant owners place not the governments! Burntash wake up you started this thread complaining how inside your own home is where the freedome is, but here people that own these places are being told what they can and cant do.
no one is being forced to quit smoking. they're just being told to take it outside where people who don't smoke don't have to have their health put at risk and can breathe. As mao said earlier, we all have freedoms but have to put those freedoms in check for the benefit of others when it infringes on their health forcefully. you think they should lift the DUI bans? some people like to drink and drive, but they are going to get fined and arrested for endangering other peoples lifes/health.
there are some bans out there and freedoms bein taken away that dont affect peoples health like gay marriage. or even abortion which actually sometimes DOES affect the health and well being of the mother.
ChiefBD wrote:Didn't you watch the Matrix Mao , without choice humans will not accept the program, which means revolution. You at least have to give us the illusion of choice.
Quit or go outside to smoke. Easy choice for me.
Go to another smoke free bar or go outside to breathe . We both could do the same thing.
if you can smoke indoors then its just a smokey indoors again and people who dont smoke will always have to be outside and cant even come in. and its just back to the way it was, which as mao said was tested and failed for years.
why split and divide people like that anywany? then you gotta worry about finding a place that smokes or is non smoking. this way smokers and nonsmokers are free to go wherever they want but if you want to smoke walk your lazy ass a few steps out the door and light it up.
ChiefBD wrote:It's like freaking Six Flags. No one forces you to get on their rides, they post a disclaimer that you can have a heart attack. Proceed with caution FTW . You can choose to get on the ride, or not. You can choose to enter a smoke friendly establishment or not, but now smokers are given no choice .
Taverns and restaurants with bars will have until July 1, 2008 to comply. After July 1, 2008, owners need to prove a sophisticated air filtration system is in place if the establishment has not gone smoke free. Hotels can still have smoking rooms and private clubs and lodges are exempt.
if its public, you can't smoke, i don't see the problem?
he puts his hand over his heart during the pledge, all the pictures and videos are from him not having it over during the national anthem. even if it were true, its just a mannerism. whenever im somewhere that an announcer asks "please bow your heads for a moment of silence" i dont, and its not because im being disrespectful, thats just the way i am, it doesnt make a difference to me if i bow my head and close my eyes or keep straight up with my eyes open.
thats why youll never be president of the United states
yea, because someone cares more about appearance than whats on the inside. and thats whats wrong with these times, thats why im pissed off.
maoisn wrote:I support the smoking ban, so therefore I support every other ban out there. There is no other way around it. Soon I will ban everything that is dangerous or causes me discomfort. Yeah it sounded pretty stupid when you said it also.
But your ban infringes upon my freedom to smoke . Nonsmokers can compromise just like smokers can. Can you give me a specific place where I can smoke? No, screw them all and ban it all . That is not fair, and there was no compromise.
but your smoking is compromising my ability to breathe. you can't have indoor smoking sections, that didnt work, as carlin says an indoor smoking section is like having a peeing section in a pool.

wearing certain clothes, buying certain colognes, having certain possessions so we can score a little bit of pussy. people can scrape by life pretty contently and live comfortable in their means but everyone wants something bigger and better. instead of what we need, we look at what we want. everyone in the country is walking around with a giant raging viagra induced hardon knocking over shit on the tables. and no ones picking up after themselves while the rest of us walk on glass.
You're looking at it from the point of view of a loser though. Pessimism is a sin in my book. Sure, I can probably get by and support myself making 10 bucks an hour. But why? Whether it be material things, women, feeding your family, buying that bigger house, humans aspire for MORE (sorry stole that from you Ray). It's human nature to want MORE. It's called motivation.
While not always, sometimes it's all about the finer things in life. Maintain the balance my friend.
theres nothing wrong with wanting more. but dont get MORE than are within your means of survival. thats why all those dipshits that bought into ARM's are out on their fat greedy asses. If you want more, be motivated and go earn more. Don't try to fit everything on your small ass plate cause stuff will fall off. Doesn't take a genius to take a breath look down and realize you need a bigger plate, or finish what you have and go get some more.
