i just did a quick search on forrent and included garages and found plenty of apartments (1 bedroom) for $1000. Did you look at international village? I had friends who lived there a few months ago - not a bad place, plenty of room, and their own garage. If we can fit 2 bikes and 1 car, plus a big shelf in a 1 car garage, you will be able to fit a bike and car in a 1-car garage too
