Domestic response of law enforcement today
Each agency and jurisdiction within the United States has its own Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) when it comes to responding and handling domestic calls. Generally, it has been accepted that if the understood victim has visible (and recent) marks of abuse, the suspect is arrested and charged with the appropriate crime. However, that is a guideline and not a rule. Like any other call, domestic abuse lies in a gray area. Law enforcement officers have several things to consider when making a warrantless arrest:
Are there signs of physical abuse? Hmm YES
Were there witnesses? Hmm YES (his sister)
Is it recent? Hmm YES
Was the victim assaulted by the alleged suspect? Hmm YES
Could the victim be lying? Hmm according to Cheyenne YES
Could the suspect be lying? Hmm according to Tamatha YES
Along with protecting the victim, law enforcement officers have to ensure that the alleged abusers' rights are not violated. Many times in cases of mutual combatants, it is departmental policy that both parties be arrested and the court system can establish truth at a later date. In some areas of the nation, this mutual combatant philosophy is being replaced by the primary abuser philosophy in which case if both parties have physical injuries, the law enforcement officer determines who the primary aggressor is and only arrest that one. This philosophy started gaining momentum when different government/private agencies started researching the effects. It was found that when both parties are arrested, it had an adverse affect on the victim. The victims were less likely to call or trust law enforcement during the next incident of domestic abuse.
Since Cheyenne brought this up, the police officers asked and stated that if either one of us wanted to place charges against one another that "WE" meaning they would arrest both of us because it was obvious because we both showed signs of physical abuse. "WE" both made the decision not to press charges against one another. No charges were filed, if they would have been "WE" both would have gone to jail.
Those people who posted up about being in abusive situation should have known this if what they wrote was true.
Enough said, everyone has their opinions and they are like assholes.
I have been around here long enough to know how this thread was going to turn out and what people where going to say, whatever.
Love me hate me eathier way your still thinking of me ...
Both showed signs...so you both went at each other. Till now the story seemed to be different. On top of which I was remaning neutral and calling BS on some of the posters here.
Wow, well I just ate a delicious bowl of bullshit and it's all earmuffs fault We've all seen enough episodes of Cops to know what happens. In domestic disputes, most of the time someone gets arrested. Earmuffs, gimme another one liner.
And I must say props to cheyenne for being cool about it.

It's not really wrong. It's just puzzling. When G2G and Jenya had their drama, everyone was siding with G2G automatically. Regardless of me siding with him as well, no one is going to side with SkyKitten for the sole reason that she's not in the circle of friends like G2G is. That's it. You can bet your ass that if some other girl like eviltwin posted up something like that, then it wouldn't be all fun and games. If I had some serious topic, then this...for sure...ain't the place to post it, it's the equivalent of putting dog food down in front of your hungry dog and telling him not to eat it...folks here just can't help it.
But the folks on the forum aren't purely to blame...if SkyKitten didn't know, then she knows now that this ain't the place for anything to be actually taken seriously UNLESS you're in with the in crowd of the forum. this is a place to kill time at work and get your drama jollies on and so forth. So knowing that and posting on here, the response is not surprising. Actually what Earmuffs said, I found funny, but it's simply in the wrong thread. Why? Well because it might be a lie and it might be true, but pushing any buttons simply because we can't decide one way or another ain't worth it.
So no, it's not wrong. It's just called having a place and time to say what you're going to say. But it's also in knowing that when you post up something in an open forum, it is indeed going to be taken many ways. The freedom to speak your mind on this forum is good. But it doesn't free you from the responsibility of watching what you say and who to say it to. You simply never know when you'll have to account for your words.

Oh your mom got her ass beat or died the other day!? OMG ROFL LMAO that's awesome!!! Dude, you're ruining this thread!!!
1. I wouldn't care if any of you posted that, and i in turn would laugh my ass off. My closest friends joke around like that all the time, what makes you think it would have a different effect from people on the interwebz?
2. Also, If that did happen they'd be talking to the business end of a firearm.
3. Whatever happened between Chey and Tam, is between them. I, like majority of the posters on here, are just having fun with it because we have NO idea what really transpired. Could it be true? Yes. Would we do anything about it? Probably not.
4. As i posted, i grew up watching my father beat my mom, that i am not joking about. If Chey really did hit her, then he deserves to get his ass beat. If this is bullshit, then Tamitha needs psychiaric help. I dunno. It's enjoyable reading here but threads totally being derailed here is the reason I wouldn't bother to post anything but a funny or joke here. If there's something serious to be said, then it just seems like this isn't the place to discuss it for sure. So I was mostly making that as my example. Guess you just need to know the folks here before posting. Since being able to say whatever you want goes both ways I guess. In any case then, carry on

Well for starters he never actually did anything. He wrote some sad emails in a drunken state (big surprise) which were fun to read. But anything more than that has been all rumors. It's always "I heard" rather than "I saw". In which case I've heard a number of things myself about a number of people...but most of which is untrue.
And the one time I told mopar that I was looking forward to encountering him, he opted not to show at the planned event and informed me that he was contacting his lawyer or something along those lines.

Bwahahahaa!!! In case you haven't figured it out, I'm not scared of guys so that doesn't worry me. I can defend myself. I always wonder about that. I've heard girls say a number of times that they can defend themselves just fine. Back in high school we lost our first basketball game...the other team had a great comeback and beat us at the last second. Ok fine, but then all the way back to the locker rooms, one guy kept talking trash and as we were splitting into one locker room and they into the other he yells out "hey any of you want to go? I'll take ya'll on right here right now!" Followed by a big smile. I handed my warm gear to one of my teammates and proceeded to offer him the chance to show me what he meant. The last thing I recall is him giving my shoulder one of those light punches and it was more or less a blackout then as I took him to the ground. I beat him so hard and was so into it that I didn't even notice that I was repeatedly hitting my left elbow against the wall that we fell by (which later swelled up to the size of 2 softballs). Apparently (according to my teammates) I was in such a rage that when they yanked me off of him, I took a giant swing at one of them and fortunately missed before proceeding to get back on top of this guy and continue my home improvement project.
So the point of that is the few times I've gotten into fights since then, it tends to be about the same. Everything is tuned out and my one and only objective is to take out whoever it is. Now I'm trying to picture a girl defending herself against not just what I did but what others do and do more of. And unless you're armed with some weapon and ready to use it, then I always wonder when I hear girls say it. And I'm not picking on ya Lori, it just reminded me of the many times I've heard it before. But is it really true? I'm trying to envision a big dude in full rage going at someone and what plays out.

Maybe she just wanted to vent and that's all. Sometimes in the spur of the moment you just need to let it out. I'd guess that venting on a forum is better some other ways. In any case, reading it on here for us is the equivalent of watching a talk show. Sure we know the logical solution and it seems silly to us to make any other choice, but it's a little different in someones shoes I'd guess.
Sure it's her side of the story and you can just leave it at that. If it didn't happen then we feel better because we call bullshit. But if it did, then not so much. Some of the feedback simply seems redundant or hindsight. And yes, you're not simply going to just change your mind about cheyenne just from reading the thread...but you don't have to.
But what was interesting was when G2G and Jenya had all the drama, many folks were all about the drama and easily taking sides. So in reality, the level of sympathy on here mostly depends on who you know, and not what was done. Now to some degree, venting on a forum will lead to feedback you don't like to hear either. Online, everyone is a tough guy and can say what they like behind the safety of a keyboard. The tragedy is that most don't watch what they say and live in the moment, rather than looking at the big picture.

Drinking Miller, Bud, or anything else 'lite' should be done only by Nascar fans on a diet. Unless you're a he-bitch and watching your calories. Have a real beer. And if someone actually enjoys the taste of some 64 calorie beer, then they need to go to 'unfuck your taste palette rehab'. Well water tastes better than 'lite' beer. Enjoy your life and your beer...don't make the beer suffer because you can't lay off the McD's during the day.

I don't really drink redbull on a regular basis or care much about it. But when I see the last one in the fridge. Something magical happens. Grow a nice mid sized rubbery one and then just go for it.

Religion has existed as long as man has existed. It is no more evil than any other belief people feel strongly about. Yes, wars have been fought over religion, but wars have also been fought over communism, marxism, capitalism, etc. One thing these all have in common.... they are a way of governing the masses. The advantage of religion, is that its methods of governing the masses are based off of peace (im not saying it always works out, just saying what its based on). This country was founded off of a belief not only in God, but in your freedom to worship him or her however you so choose, even if that means not to worship at all. This is a freedom from persecution. The idea that it is o.k. to bash those who choose to worship is as ignornant as believing its o.k. to bash those who choose not too. Sadly, those who choose not to are making an extreme effort to force their beliefs on those who choose to nowadays and I find it simply disgusting and hypocritical. To scream separation of church and state when it comes to funding but expect the state to get involved with the church when it comes to subjects such as gay marriage, adoption, etc is just plain dumb in my book. To end my rant, I respect athiests, agnostics, christians, muslims, etc... you will not find a single post from me on any forum stating otherwise. And though I would consider myself agnostic, I find quotes like Jeff's signature offensive so therefore I agree with the OP.
Rant off. Religion has not existed as long as man. For quite a while, people simply followed this person or that one. Your tribes had spiritual leaders who could provide different answers that were sought. How we know this is because in history you see it happening over and over again when people are simply following one man or another. Abraham, Moses, Jesus, Buddha, Muhammad, etc...From these we can see where true religion got its start. These men stood and could explain why the sun existed and why it rose every morning. I'm sure the ideas sounded logical enough at the time. And from there, religion was setup as a business and to control people. It allowed leaders to unify people to fight for a common good and to become stronger. For example these 3 cities that have nothing in common have no reason to fight together against others that are further away. But if you make them the same religion and the guys across the river believe something else...well in that case you can expand and gain more power by either converting or attacking them. Jesus was just a jew who said "hmm well this whole jewish thing is fine, but I think I can tweak it here or there, and you see a split when he gained a number of followers. In fact if someone mythical came around today in a similar position we would look at him as crazily as we do the dude on the subway who stands on a cardboard podium and preaches to the passengers. We are past the point where religion could be formulated spiritually. Look at new religions such as Scientology. It's no different than any of the major religions and setup in a similar way. But we call it a cult and brainwashing...which it really is. I've had first hand experience with friends who have joined and they are not the same. In our older religions it simply happens from birth so you never see some magical transformation from a friend who is an adult and sadly lost.
As for marriage. Marriage in the sense of people partnering off to get their sexy time on goes back much further than any organized religion and any church. The church/temple/synagogue simply stepped in and said "we can handle this one". So while you may have marriage in 325 CE, it existed before then and was simply taken over and setup in a more business like or organized sense. On top of that you can get married in a court. So would you be ok with the idea of a gay couple getting married in a court instead of a church? Here's one thing you said "marriage as we know it was created by the church". Times change and so do view points. Marriage was simply taken over and run by the church at some point in time. There's absolutely nothing wrong with taking it and passing it on to a different source. And it already happened. What does any priest or rabbi say right before that magical moment? "By the powers vested in me by the state of..." Presto. A priest needs authority from the government in order for the marriage to mean anything in the eyes of the law. So marriage as we KNEW it was run by the church for quite a while. All the way up till the point when we stopped following churches as being our primary corrupt leaders and started hiring independent corrupt ones. Today the power of marriage comes from the state and not from the church. The church is just a nice place to conduct the ceremony. And churches aren't forced to wed gay couple. I went to DePaul...a private catholic university, that very openly welcomed gays. Because a church can either not wed a gay couple and claim that a man shall not lay with another man. Or they can wed them and claim that one man shall not judge another, which is the reason why DePaul welcomed the gay community. So the topic is very open ended.
And that's the beauty of religion. You can interpret it any way you like. The bible says one point here and counters that point elsewhere. So you get to choose which point you want to follow or believe in more so. Fortunately for people like Burntash and unfortunately for people who are moderate followers, religion is not as strong as it once was. The numbers of atheist and agnostics is growing. Camps exist that let kids go to and think about religion, atheism, where we came from, and so on. We are past the enlightenment period and very slowly but very surely leaving the fictitious world behind. Just look at many of the people who are on this forum. Do they believe in god? Yes. Do they go to church on a regular basis? No. Do they willingly and knowingly commit sins? Yes. So we are now a society that sort of believes in god and if you sort of don't kill anyone or do any major harm then you're ok having premarital sex, cheating, not keeping kosher, and so on. If you go back in time you can see that people used to always attend church and live as much to each word of god as they could, not just selectively like we do. It's very difficult to listen to someone praise god (not you, an old buddy of mine in college who constantly preached about god) and then the next day he tells me about some premarital anal buttseks he had with some chick at a bar.

Burntash you should know better. While I agree with your view points on religion. I'm not sure I agree with the way they are being expressed here. Not because you can't, but because it's just a headache.
Is religion an evil...well more or less as history has shown it's sort of caused all of the major atrocities of mankind. It's brought more hatred than love. More death than life. And it's taken more and given less. So I get your hatred. But in expressing it, you either don't do it...or have to write a small novel to convey the opinion. The catch 22 at the end there is that even once you've cleared it up as clear as you can as to why you hate it. Someone can just quote verse X and you're automatically disproved or simply countered. And the funny thing to that is that it's not you who has to prove or explain what you feel. You really feel nothing and believe in nothing. There's not much to explain. If I want you to believe in the Flying Spaghetti Monster, I must prove that He exists...not ask you to disprove his existence. So your argument is like the never ending mirror when you hold up one mirror in front of another.
"Religion is a system, Burntash. That system is our enemy. But when you're inside, you look around, what do you see? Businessmen, teachers, lawyers, carpenters. The very minds of the people we are trying to save. But until we do, these people are still a part of that system and that makes them our enemy. You have to understand, most of these people are not ready to be unplugged. And many of them are so inert, so hopelessly dependent on the system that they will fight to protect it."

I'm not exactly sure on the origins of this thread. But in terms of respecting peoples beliefs...no I don't respect them.
Respect is a willingness to show consideration or appreciation. So it's not the right word to use on my personal views of folks who are on the religious side. I'm tolerant of their views, not respectful. And I think that's what most of the people here mean when they say "Fine by me as long as you keep your view points outta my throat".
If some dude is sitting in a sandbox and eating sand. Should I respect his decision to eat sand? No. I can just shrug my shoulders and walk past him and figure it's not my problem. That's not respect, that's indifference. And the same goes for religious beliefs. If someone cares to have a spirited debate about it then sure why not. But no sense in attempting anything else like reasoning.
Be it a priest in a church or the dude on Michigan Ave who holds the signs foretelling the end of days...they are both equal in my eyes, and neither one of them will see any respect from me.
